Luke 2.1-14: Story of the birth of Jesus the approach of Christmas, our streets are lit with thousands of lights: shop windows sparkle, sparkle and trees Santas are illuminated facades of our houses. Christmas is no longer the party of the birth of Jesus, but rather an ode to the glory of the Fairy Electricity.
All tinsel, all this light contrasts with the narrative that give us the Gospels. Around the manger of Bethlehem there was no light except that coming from heaven to proclaim the Good News to those who slept under the stars. The true light is that of the birth of Jesus among us. And it took place in poverty, in destitution, even as there was more room in the inn to welcome the Son of God.
In our darkness, our darkness, in our poverty (not just hardware) as the true light of our Lord will shine and show us the path. If we are dazzled by what we dangled our society, if we look at the brilliance of wrapping paper and a thousand little lights and garlands, then sure, we shall not distinguish the glimmer of hope that God has brought into our lives.
Shut your eyes for a moment. Leave room for our Father. Look deep within our hearts, our being and we will break a new dawn, a ray of the Sun God.
The true light that came from above announced men here below: "Glory to God in highest heaven, peace on earth and goodwill among men." Today in the flood light, let us find and distinguish the Love of God for each of us, love that there are over two thousand years has demonstrated the fragility of a newborn child .
May the year ahead is flooded, for each of you, Light of the coming of Jesus among us. Because Christmas is perhaps a day like any other for many, but every day is Christmas, because each day God meets us and illuminates our path.
