Lord Hancardrie (at Ennetières en Weppes), adviser to North prefecture, President of the General Council of the North, MP from 1815 to 1830.
"He has the ambition to be the leader of the deputation North: also see it still at the head of his eleven colleagues when maneuvering in the field ministry. [...] When neither sees him in a minister or even in a general manager, you can be sure he is indisposed. Of Paris were opened to the astonishing visits obsequious attendance, and those who bet they would not fail at a Thursday Villele a Monday at M. de Peyronnet, Wednesday at M. de Corbiere, have not yet lost the challenge. Mr. Potteau Hancardrie of having, as we have said, claim to lead his colleagues, until he heads to customs or Stud, employing all the resources of his genius to intercept any capacity that would tend to creep into his deputation. So far, he has succeeded marvelously. His dedication to the department, including Mr. Potteau is a column for which he has waived the right to think for himself, not, one imagines remained unrewarded. We saw successively obtain the cross of chevalier and officer of the Legion of Honour, the advisory role of the prefecture and the admission of his son in the pages. It does, however, that these favors waiting for something better and as a down payment on the huge debt the department contracted with him. He therefore seeks front a prefecture, a commissioner in place of salt and finally the peerage. "

His son Ferdinand laid the foundation stone of the church-in-Ennetières Weppes in May 1829.
